Prepare for your mini session
Want to make the best out of your mini-sessions? Here are some quick tips to inspire you!
👗👕🎽 Outfits - Mini sessions are your chance to show off some of your amazing fashion! Understandably, not everyone is a fashionista, but give some thought into what makes you feel good, pretty, handsome and/or beautiful when you wear it. Feeling stuck? Check out Pinterest for some inspiration!
Some extra outfit tips:
- Dress warm on cold days, cool on hot days
- Check clothes for holes and stains
- Add some accessories. Hats, jewelry, and scarfs all look great in photos!
- Steer clear of clothes that have big logos. Unless you're advertising of coarse!
- Feel good in what you’re wearing.
⌚ Arrive early - Please try to arrive a few minutes early to the session. We often leave some extra time between sessions in case the mini session starts or ends a little bit late, but rushing a session could add some pressure to get the best shots. Shoot us a call or email if you think you’ll be arriving more than 5-10 mins late.
😬 Do photo sessions make you feel kinda uncomfortable? Totally understandable! Cameras do that to some people and it’s ok! We’ll give you some tips on how to make your shots look natural and spontaneous. Rest assured, it’ll all be over soon :)
🐶 Are dogs ok to bring? Of course! And if my dog-loving daughter is around, she will probably ask to pet it 😂. Keep in mind, dogs will be dogs. If they don’t happen to want to cooperate that day, embrace the chaos, laugh it up and just have fun with it! Oh, and don’t forget your doggy bags hehe.
👨👩👧👦 Keep the groups small - When large groups outside of immediate family come to the session, it’s hard to coordinate everyone, do breakout shots (just the uncles, just the aunts, just the godmother with the kids and their friends, etc.) all in 15 minutes! Mini sessions are best with small groups. A private session would be much more suitable for a large group session. Feel free to contact me for more information about them!
😊 Enjoy your session! - All in all, mini-sessions are a fun time, and the time goes quicker than you think! And there’s nothing better than a great family portrait to share with friends and family or displayed in your home. I look forward to a great session with you!
